Hanwha's North American operations are run by Hanwha Machinery America Inc. in Schaumburg, IL, which backs the machines sold through AMT.
The Hanwha lineup runs from Ø10 mm (XD10, XP12/16S) at the small end up to Ø42 mm (STL42, XD42) at the large end, with a range of models in between covering Ø16 mm, Ø20 mm, Ø26 mm, Ø32 mm, and Ø38 mm. Most models are available in two diameter variants — for example, the XD20/26 series accepts either Ø20 or Ø26 mm bar stock.
Yes. The Hanwha XM20 is a Swiss-type CNC lathe developed specifically for dental component machining, released in 2024. It is designed for the small-diameter, high-precision titanium work typical of dental implant and abutment production.
Both are available depending on the model. The STL series uses Siemens, the XDI32 uses Fanuc, the XD42 uses Fanuc, and mid-range models including the XD38III and XD20/26III are available with either Fanuc or Siemens. The XP automatic lathes use Fanuc throughout. AMT can advise which control options apply to a specific model when you enquire.
Hanwha Swiss lathes are used across medical and dental, automotive, electronics, aerospace and defence, and hydraulics and industrial fittings. The machines are suited to small-diameter, high-precision parts in materials including titanium, stainless steel, aluminium alloy, brass, and free-machining steels.
The XD series are sliding-headstock Swiss-type lathes with gang or comb-style tool layouts, covering Ø10 to Ø42 mm. The STL series (STL38, STL42) uses a turret tool layout instead of a gang, offering a different tooling architecture suited to shops that prefer turret-style setup. Both series produce high-precision turned parts; the choice often comes down to tooling preference and the part mix in your shop.
