Why Choose Hanwha CNC Machine Tool?

Six series, one manufacturer

From the compact XP automatic lathes to the three-path XDI32 and the Ø42 mm STL turret-type, the full Hanwha lineup covers a wide range of part diameters and complexity levels, so Canadian shops can standardize on one platform as their production needs grow.

Purpose-built for high-precision industries

Hanwha machines are documented in medical (titanium and stainless implant parts), dental (the dedicated XM20), automotive, electronics, and industrial applications. The tooling ecosystem — including whirling, gear hobbing, and internal coolant-driven units — is designed to handle the demanding materials and tight tolerances those industries require.

Fanuc and Siemens control options

Many models in the XD, XDI, XE, and STL series are available with either Fanuc or Siemens CNC, letting your programming team work in the control environment they already know without retraining or rewiring processes.

Backed by AMT — Canadian sales and support

AMT Machine Tools is the authorized Hanwha dealer in Canada. We provide pre-sale application consultation, installation, operator training, and ongoing technical support. You are not dealing with a cross-border distributor — you have a Canadian team behind your machine.

Hanwha XDI32 Swiss-Type CNC Lathe

The Hanwha XDI32 is a 3-path, 9-axis sliding-headstock CNC lathe introduced in 2021. It is built around the Fanuc 31iB controller and accepts bar stock up to 32 mm in diameter. Unlike Hanwha's turret-based STL machines, the XDI32 uses an independent opposite-gang configuration: the main front tool stage and the sub rear tool stage each carry their own gang arrays and operate on completely separate axes, allowing the machine to cut on both ends of the workpiece simultaneously without the indexing delays associated with a turret. A standalone Z3/X3 back tool path handles a third cut concurrently. The main spindle and sub spindle are identical in rating — each 6,500 rpm and 2.2/5.5 kW — which makes the XDI32 well matched for long-cycle parts where the sub spindle does substantial secondary work rather than just parting-off and ejecting. The front tool stage carries seven 16 mm square turning tools (four on one bank, three on the other) and four ER16M driven cross drills at 6,000 rpm (2.2 kW). The back tool unit holds nine ER16 tools in a 6-driven/3-fixed arrangement (upgradable with a Y3 back-cross option) at 6,000 rpm and 1.0 kW. All three machining paths can run simultaneously, and Hanwha's "pre-position of the next tool" feature allows the machine to index the upcoming tool while the current cut is still running, reducing air-cut time between operations. Optional tooling extends the XDI32's reach considerably: a B-axis double-hinged cross unit (ER16 × 8, swivel range -40° to +100°) enables angular drilling and compound-angle features, a sub gun drill unit handles deep-hole work to 190 mm without a separate setup, and a Y3-axis back tool cross option adds cross-turning capability behind the part. AMT Machine Tools is the Canadian dealer for Hanwha and can advise on the XDI32 configuration best suited to your part mix across Ontario and the rest of Canada.

FAQ

Hanwha CNC Machine Tool Questions

Answers to common questions about our hanwha cnc machine tool products.

Yes. AMT Machine Tools is the authorized Canadian dealer for Hanwha CNC Swiss lathes. We provide sales, application consultation, installation, training, and after-sale technical support. Hanwha's North American operations are run by Hanwha Machinery America Inc. in Schaumburg, IL, which backs the machines sold through AMT.

The Hanwha lineup runs from Ø10 mm (XD10, XP12/16S) at the small end up to Ø42 mm (STL42, XD42) at the large end, with a range of models in between covering Ø16 mm, Ø20 mm, Ø26 mm, Ø32 mm, and Ø38 mm. Most models are available in two diameter variants — for example, the XD20/26 series accepts either Ø20 or Ø26 mm bar stock.

Yes. The Hanwha XM20 is a Swiss-type CNC lathe developed specifically for dental component machining, released in 2024. It is designed for the small-diameter, high-precision titanium work typical of dental implant and abutment production.

Both are available depending on the model. The STL series uses Siemens, the XDI32 uses Fanuc, the XD42 uses Fanuc, and mid-range models including the XD38III and XD20/26III are available with either Fanuc or Siemens. The XP automatic lathes use Fanuc throughout. AMT can advise which control options apply to a specific model when you enquire.

Hanwha Swiss lathes are used across medical and dental, automotive, electronics, aerospace and defence, and hydraulics and industrial fittings. The machines are suited to small-diameter, high-precision parts in materials including titanium, stainless steel, aluminium alloy, brass, and free-machining steels.

The XD series are sliding-headstock Swiss-type lathes with gang or comb-style tool layouts, covering Ø10 to Ø42 mm. The STL series (STL38, STL42) uses a turret tool layout instead of a gang, offering a different tooling architecture suited to shops that prefer turret-style setup. Both series produce high-precision turned parts; the choice often comes down to tooling preference and the part mix in your shop.
